Press Taylor, Eagles quarterbacks coach

Tom Pelissero threw a few logs on the fire by throwing Press Taylor’s name into the mix right around lunchtime on Thursday after Groh’s dismissal. Here’s a quote.

"With the surprise dismissal of Mike Groh, one logical candidate to be the Eagles offensive coordinator is quarterbacks coach Press Taylor, from whose vault they drew the “Philly Special”. Taylor’s only 31, but he had some OC interest elsewhere last year."

As mentioned, Taylor drew some interest last season. In true Eagles fashion, he makes sense because he’s already with the organization and familiar with what the team has done to this point.

He’s worked to help continue the development of Carson Wentz, and that has led to some nice results. Circle Taylor’s name on your scorecards if you’re keeping one, but keep this in mind as well. He’s innovative in his thought process, but it takes more than that to be a successful offensive coordinator in an ultra-competitive NFL.

Groh learned that very quickly.
