Mike Kafka, Quarterbacks Coach, Kansas City Chiefs

Speaking of robbing other guys from Pederson’s wheelhouse, Mike Kafka is another name that could pay huge dividends if he was added to the Eagles coaching staff. If the name sounds familiar, it should. The Eagles drafted Kafka 12th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft.

After two seasons in Eagles green, Kafka became a journeyman. Five professional football seasons wound up with him paying visits to six more NFL franchises after Philly’s. He completed a grand total of 11 passes and never threw a touchdown pass in his pro career.

Kafka’s second football life has been more fruitful. He’s been with the Kansas City Chiefs since the 2017 season, and that has also worked out pretty well for him. he’s helped Patrick Mahomes earn an MVP trophy, and it would be nice if he could help Carson Wentz do the same thing in Philadelphia.

Honorable mention: Brad Childress, Jason Garrett, Joe Moorhead

Jason Garrett‘s name is one that will make Egles fans’ stomachs turn, but he’s like Shurmur. He’s a good offensive coordinator who shouldn’t be a head coach. Brad Childress is another of those familiar names to Eagles fans.

He’s a senior offensive assistant to the Chicago Bears, a former Eagles OC (2002-2005) and could get another shot at being a coordinator. Joe Moorhead is a longshot who previously held the position of head coach for the Mississippi State Bulldogs during the 2018 and 2019 NCAA seasons
