Imagine a Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff that had Doug Pederson, Jim Schwartz, and Jim Caldwell. Are you excited yet? You should be!

Immediately after the news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles had made the decision to part ways with their offensive coordinator of two years, Mike Groh, there was talk about everything from whether or not it was actually Doug Pederson who pulled the trigger to who a few guys were that made sense. Recently, Jim Caldwell has worked his way into the conversation.

According to a recent report by ESPN’s Tim McManus, sources have told him that Philly may have some interest in an outside hire, and two names that are among the ones that have them interested are Jim Caldwell and former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell.

Those are two very interesting choices. The difference between the two was Caldwell was actually a part of the Eagles’ thought process when Frank Reich left to accept the Indianapolis Colts‘ job, ironically the team that Caldwell helped lead to a Super Bowl title.

Let’s not waste a ton of time. Caldwell’s coaching resume is the stuff of legend. Here are three reasons why Philly needs to pull the trigger.
