An argument for and against John DeFilippo’s return to Philadelphia Eagles

John DeFilippo joins the list of the NFL’s coaching free agents, and Philadelphia Eagles fans all over go bananas. Is this a move that makes sense though?

Well, we can say one thing with some certainty. The Philadelphia Eagles won’t have any shortages when it comes to available candidates for their vacant offensive coordinator position. On January 13th, shortly before lunchtime, news broke that the team’s former quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo was relieved of his duties as the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ offensive coordinator position.

As you might imagine, there’s a bit of a buzz building around the idea of bringing the son of a former athletic director at Villanova University and the former Radnor High School quarterback home.

Emotionally, this seems like a slam-dunk, but when we all step back and analyze things, there are both pros and cons to reacquiring DeFilippo. Let’s take a few moments and examine both sides.
