Is the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator position even a desirable job? You’ll want to hear what an NFL expert had to say recently.

Even though we all know that it hasn’t been, it feels like it’s been two months since Doug Pederson and the Philadelphia Eagles brass decided to part ways with their offensive coordinator of two seasons, Mike Groh. Since then, there have been rumors and a ton of ideas, none of which have led to anyone being hired, but hey. That’s life in the NFL.

Still, Philly’s vacant OC position has led to some questions. Here are a couple of good ones. Is Philly simply taking their time or is no one interested? Could we even begin to question whether or not Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator position is one of the less-desirable NFL gigs? You’re getting Carson Wentz and a lot of young Eagles stars on offense if you take the job. Then, there’s the other thing.

You can’t do any worse than the last guy did.

Believe it or not, this is a question that’s becoming a real narrative and getting some serious airtime on the talk circuit. Recently, 97.3 ESPN Radio in Philadelphia interviewed the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and asked him the same thing. Here’s some of what he had to say from a very interesting interview.

"I believe they’re going at their on pace. There’s no need to rush to a decision in their mind. I’m sure (that) they would have loved the chance to talk to (Mike) Kafka to see if that would have worked out. they think highly of him, but Andy Reid’s got some plans in mind for Kafka. When I tweeted that out, some folks misunderstood and thought kafka was spurning the Eagles. That was not the case. It was more of Andy making sure that he kept him on staff because he believes he’s going to be a big part of Kansas City’s future."

Garafolo even went on to say that he’s friendly with several assistant coaches that have asked him if he’s capable of helping them get their foot in the door for an interview. That pretty much settles the argument about whether or not guys want to be in Philly. So, here we are. The Senior Bowl is approaching. So is the Super Bowl, and Philly’s offensive coordinator position is still open.

Sure, fans want to see some movement, and so do some members on the media, but for now, Philly seems to be content in taking their time. This is an important decision, and they need to take their time, something it seems that the rival New York Giants failed to do in what appears to be a rushed hire of their new head coach, Joe Judge.

The Eagles currently have four openings with their defensive backs coach, defensive line coach, wide receiver coach and OC positions all needing to be filled. To be honest, if you’re a fan, you want them to take their time. They’ve got to get every hire right.
