If A.J. Green happens to be available in free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles should strongly consider pursuing the wideout.

To say the wide receiver position was a major area of weakness for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019 would be a huge understatement since the team just couldn’t catch a break in the injury department.

From DeSean Jackson suffering an injury early on to Alshon Jeffery‘s foot becoming an issue late in the regular season, it was amazing to watch the Eagles earn the NFC East title the way they did over the Dallas Cowboys.

Losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round was devastating to see for obvious reasons, but the good news is once certain players get healthy over the next few months, Philadelphia should be able to continue being a top contender in 2020.

With that being said, when it comes to the biggest offseason needs for the Eagles, wide receiver easily ranks near the top of the list.

And while there has been plenty of excitement over Jeffery and Jackson getting healthy, there is also no guarantee the two veterans will be back in the picture for the 2020 season.

Not to mention, Philadelphia also faces a difficult decision when it comes to deciding what to do with Nelson Agholor as well since the former first-round pick is set to become a free agent as well.

Assuming the Eagles do look to free agency to consider all options at wide receiver since the future of all three current players is up there, the one long-shot candidate that deserves consideration is A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Despite missing all of the 2019 season due to an ankle injury, Green has proven on numerous occasions that he deserves to be in the conversation as a top receiver in the league, and could be in for a fresh start with a new team.

While Cincinnati is expected to do everything in their power to convince Green to stick around, at this stage in his career, the former Georgia star seems like he would be better off joining a serious contender since he will turn 32 in July.

Depending on how things play out with Philadelphia’s current situation at wideout, if the Eagles were to find a way to convince Green to come on board, it could certainly benefit the offense in a big way.

Even if Jeffery or Jackson were still part of the picture, the addition of Green to provide Carson Wentz with another reliable weapon in the passing game could work wonders.

So while the chances of Green ending up in Philadelphia seem like a long shot at the moment, when looking at some of the previous surprises the Eagles have pulled off in the past, it certainly shouldn’t be ruled out.
