player. 54. . . . Wild Card Weekend 2019: Eagles 16, Bears 15. 7

Philly’s first road playoff win since 2009 definitely didn’t come easy. The ‘Birds’ traveled to historic Soldier Field in Chicago to meet a former ally who was now on the opposing sideline, Matt Nagy and his new squad, the Chicago Bears.

Nagy was with Philly from 2008 to 2012 as Philly’s coaching intern, as a coaches’ assistant, and then finally as their offensive quality control coach. He’d follow Andy Reid to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 as their quarterback coach which is where he’d serve until 2015. He’d land K.C.’s offensive coordinator position in 2016, and after a successful two-year run in that role, Chicago gave him his first shot at being a head coach.

In his first season with the team, Nagy led the Bears to a 12-4 record, a division title and a home playoff game in his first season, but Philly entered the Wild Card with thoughts of an upset.

The Philadelphia Eagles took a late lead in a defensive struggle with a Golden Tate touchdown reception from Foles, but the Bears drove down the field, putting themselves in a position to win. Fate was on Philly’s side on this day though as former Eagle Cody Parkey’s ‘double doink’ allowed the ‘Birds’ to leave the ‘Windy City’ with a 16-15 win and a date with the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs.
