9. player. Scouting Report. Derrick Brown. Auburn. 52. Pick Analysis. Defensive Tackle

Around this time last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars were excited about what the offense could have in store moving forward after the team decided to finally move on from Blake Bortles while paving the way for Nick Foles under center.

While this may still turn out to be the case for the Jaguars, the team does find themselves in an unexpected situation trying to decide if Foles or Gardner Minshew is the best option heading into the 2020 season.

Of course, no matter which quarterback Jacksonville decides to go with, the best chance of the Jaguars bouncing back in 2020 will be if the defense shows some sort of improvement on their end.

A few years ago, Jacksonville had one of the top defensive units in the league, but times are clearly different, and the group even lost their top cornerback leading up to the deadline last October in Jalen Ramsey after trading him to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Jaguars could very well end up deciding to go with a cornerback in the first round at No. 9 during this year’s draft, but if Auburn’s Derrick Brown happens to be available, Jacksonville would be foolish to pass on the defender.

From being great at helping stop the run to amazing explosiveness, Brown is the kind of player that could fit in right away on Jacksonville’s defense, and see an immediate impact as a rookie.
