Scouting Report. LSU. Grant Delpit. Pick Analysis. Safety. 21. player. 54

Sooner or later, the Eagles will need to prepare for Malcolm Jenkins no longer being a part of the defense, although the veteran safety continues to show he is still capable of playing at a high level.

Knowing Philadelphia, there’s a good chance the team takes the approach of going with the best player available this late in the first round since they have numerous key positions to focus on, but it will be difficult to pass on Grant Delpit with the LSU star’s potential.

Like most rookies entering the draft, Delpit has a few frustrating areas he will need to improve at the NFL level, with tackling immediately coming to mind.

But also, Delpit helps make up for his weaknesses in other areas, whether it happens to be range or versatility.

Plus, as previously mentioned regarding Jenkins, if the Eagles can find a way to keep him around for another few years, this could be the perfect opportunity for the veteran to mentor Delpit if he were to become part of the picture.

As previously mentioned, there are numerous position Philadelphia can focus on with this selection to put themselves in better position to repeat as NFC East champions, but it would almost seem like a no brainer to go with Delpit if available.
