59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Edge. Notre Dame. Julian Okwara. 26. player

If the Miami Dolphins play their cards right in the upcoming draft with three picks in the first round, Brian Flores and company may actually have a legitimate shot at becoming a surprise contender in the AFC during the 2020 season.

This may sound crazy to even consider at this point, but also keep in mind how great the Dolphins looked towards the end of 2019 as one of the hottest teams in football, including an unexpected win over the New England Patriots in Week 17 to shake up the AFC playoff picture.

Of course, with Miami playing in the same division as the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, the best chance of the Dolphins having what it takes to compete is to make sure they improve at certain positions on defense.

Depending on what the Dolphins decide to do with their second pick of the first round, the defense could benefit from adding someone who would be able to apply the necessary pressure to certain quarterbacks within the division such as Tom Brady and Josh Allen.

Could this mean that Julian Okwara would be a perfect match for Miami to consider towards the end of the first round?

With 19.5 sacks during his final two seasons at Notre Dame, Okwara has the kind of pass-rushing skills the Dolphins are looking for, and could give Miami a better chance at competing in the AFC East moving forward, which they clearly need.
