2. Philly decides on Melvin Gordon over Jordan Howard.

Philly struck gold in 2019’s NFL Draft with the selection of Miles Sanders. They also made a couple of fans angry as it seems to have taken them too long to realize that guys like Boston Scott can play. Either that or they just took too long to coach him up.

Both scenarios represent issues and are another story for another day. That brings us to another of their running backs, Jordan Howard. His story is a little different from the others.

There have been and will be question marks that surround him this offseason. What should Philly do with him? Do they bring him back? Do they let him walk?

When the season began, Jordan Howard figured to be a big part of the offensive gameplan, and he was for a while, but the man who plays football’s most punishing position sat out of every game that was scheduled from Week 11 to Week 16 with what was described as a ‘stinger’. That isn’t good. Neither is the fact that when he returned in Week 17, he played one offensive snap.

Many think that he’s earned another contract offer from the Eagles, even if that deal is only for one season. They may change their minds if a mutual interest between the Eagles and a more talented back develops, Melvin Gordon for instance. He’d contribute to Philly’s committee system quite nicely, and you can expect the ‘Birds’ to go with him over Howard if the opportunity presents itself. On the surface, this seems like a deal that’s too expensive, but we can trust Eagles vice president and general manager Howie Roseman to work out the details.
