5. Philly trades up in Round 1 to take a gamechanger at wideout.

If we know anything about Howie Roseman, it’s this. He doesn’t value draft choices as much as some of the other NFL general managers. Often, they’re used as collateral. That won’t change come April.

Thanks to trades and the system in which pro football hands out compensatory picks, Philadelphia could have ten picks by the time 2020’s selection meeting rolls around. If they do, there’s nothing out of the ordinary with them bartering one of them to move up in the first round to select a gamechanger at wide receiver for Carson Wentz.

Henry Ruggs III‘s name has been mentioned in conjunction with the Eagles on more than one occasion if you listen to draft scouts. He’s a nice option, but this go around, the ‘Birds’ are going to make a splash by trading up and taking Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb. Both are seen as first-round picks.

The Eagles traded up twice to acquire Carson Wentz in 2016. They traded up to allow themselves the opportunity to land Andre Dillard in 2019. This season, a wide receiver is a target, and they won’t mind utilizing some of that draft collateral to bring in a sure thing in April.

This team has wasted enough of Carson Wentz’s prime years, and the Eagles brass is going to make every effort to ensure that’s a trend that ends as swiftly as possible.
