Philadelphia Eagles should push for duo of Alshon Jeffery, Amari Cooper
By Dan Parzych
With the Philadelphia Eagles considered a potential landing spot for Amari Cooper for 2020, one can only imagine the kind of duo with Alshon Jeffery this could provide at wide receiver.
As the speculation continues for the Philadelphia Eagles over which players could potentially come on board during the 2020 offseason, it appears Dallas Cowboys wideout Amari Cooper has found his way into the conversation.
While there’s always the chance of the Cowboys making a push to bring the wideout back for the 2020 season, this could be easier said than done since Cooper’s asking price is expected to be pretty high.
Not to mention, with Dak Prescott continuing to fight for a hefty pay raise himself that could result in the Dallas star becoming one of the league’s highest-paid quarterbacks, this could make re-signing Cooper even more complicated for the Cowboys.
Of course, if this were to turn out to be the case, this would clearly give the Eagles an advantage heading into free agency if the interest were there since the team has the money to spend.
With that being said, former NFL quarterback David Carr recently discussed potential landing spots for Cooper if Dallas fails to bring the wideout back in 2020, and in what shouldn’t come as a surprise at all, the Eagles were listed as one of the teams.
Just like every other individual’s take, all of the talk surrounding Cooper coming to Philadelphia is pure speculation at this point, but also it’s difficult not to wonder about what an addition like this could bring to the offense in 2020,
What should make fans even more excited about this possibility is what the addition of Cooper could do for Alshon Jeffery as well since both receivers seem like they would benefit from each other in a big way.
Even if Jeffery’s status for Week 1 is still up in the air at the moment after suffering a devastating foot injury towards the end of last season, once the veteran is healthy enough to play, Philadelphia seems hopeful he will be able to return to his usual ways.
Some Eagles fans may feel some frustration towards Jeffery at the moment due to the injuries he’s experienced over the years, but hopefully this becomes a thing of the past in 2020 once the wideout is fully recovered from the foot injury.
Once again, the thought of Jeffery and Cooper teaming up at wide receiver for the Eagles may sound like a long shot at the moment, but crazier things have taken place in the NFL over the years.
If Philadelphia were to express interest with the right offer, maybe the potential duo of Jeffery and Cooper could happen after all to put the Eagles in better position to earn another trip to the playoffs for a fourth year in a row during the 2020 season.
