Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz needs a backup. There aren’t many options out there. Three of the best options may scare some of you.

Did that 2019-2020 NFL season fly by or what? It seems like it was just yesterday when we were all talking about potential free-agent options, what the Philadelphia Eagles were going to do at quarterback behind Carson Wentz, and why this team can’t find cornerbacks and linebackers.

Fast forward, and it’s the same story. It feels like this franchise is stuck in neutral.

Though he made it through an entire regular season healthy, Carson Wentz went down in his first-ever playoff game. Now, it wasn’t his fault or a sign that he’s fragile. Jadeveon Clowney went WWE on the back up his head, but a familiar component to the Eagles season came into play yet again. This team must have a capable backup.

In 2019, Josh McCown filled that role, and we found out that he was an exceptional mentor for ’11’. Unfortunately, he’s also eclipsed 40 years of age and will turn 41 on Independence Day.

The Eagles need to draft a quarterback and possibly find a suitable backup in free agency because Nick Foles isn’t coming back, and Philly shouldn’t do that to Wentz anyway after building ‘Saint Nick’ a statue and building a shrine to him in the locker room. ’11’ doesn’t need that enormous shadow hovering over him.

There are just a few things that must be mentioned. There isn’t a ton of talent to choose from. We’re talking Case Keenum, Matt Moore, and Chase Daniel. Wait. Is Philly still paying that Daniel guy? Here are three dark horses who may get a look in free agency.
