. . . Kyle Sloter. . player. 50

If they handed out MVP trophies for preseason play, Kyle Sloter would be rolling off of tongues a lot more often than he does. He jumped into the conscious of football fans after starting one season at the collegiate level and throwing for 2,656 yards and 29 touchdowns for the Northern Colorado Bears.

Sure, most of you didn’t even know Northern Colorado had a bear as a mascot. Yes, we must mention that he was a transfer from Southern Mississippi, where he got no work, and we have to mention that Sloter went undrafted in 2017 before winding up on four NFL rosters in three seasons.

In fairness, that also can’t be mentioned without bringing up the fact that his ceiling is higher than most will give it credit for being, and he’s currently on the Detroit Lions roster where the franchise is married to Matthew Stafford.

To be honest, we have no tangible evidence that Sloter isn’t, at least, just as good as Nate Sudfeld is. Plus, he’s less expensive. Keep an eye on Sloter throughout the free agency period. He may draw the interest of several teams. Might Philly be one of them to at least bring him in to compete for the backup role?
