The Philadelphia Eagles need both an influx of youth and veterans to be successful in 2020. Here are five potential free agents they must re-sign.

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2020 offseason with decisions to make about 16 free agents, 15 of which are unrestricted. Of those 16, seven were starters this past season or they’ve been significant contributors, including tackle Jason Peters, cornerback Ronald Darby, and running back Jordan Howard.

Eagles vice president and general manager Howie Roseman has stated that he wants to get younger and faster but potentially letting seven of your biggest contributors walk may be an easy way to secure a top-ten draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Roseman needs to find the proper balance of experience and youth if this team is to repeat as NFC East champions.

Roseman and the front office are looking to retool this Eagles roster for 2020 and beyond. To do so, the team needs experienced players who can perform at a high level and help shepherd the young players into the system and culture.

That means there’s a need to retain some of their pending free agents. No other available players across the league know the coaches and system better than these 16 players, and if Roseman wants to return to the playoffs, consistency will be key for this team. The front office will no doubt be scouring the market for available free agents, some of the expected $40 million that they’re expected to have in available cap space should be used on keeping some of their own talent in house.

Here are five of the Eagles’ pending free agents that the team would be wise to hold on to.
