3 Reasons JJ Arcega-Whiteside deserves a pass from Eagles fans
If you’re one of those Philadelphia Eagles fans who are trashing JJ Arcega-Whiteside, you may want to cut him some slack.
Well, there wouldn’t be any such thing as good news if some of it didn’t trend in the other direction. Philadelphia Eagles fans everywhere celebrated a tremendous rookie season by Miles Sanders. He set franchise records for the most rushing yards by a rookie and the most all-purpose yards by a rookie en route to a Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team nod. JJ Arcega-Whiteside, on the other hand, caught ten passes for 169 yards and one touchdown.
Talk about your disparities!
JJ’s been attacked and ridiculed all season and since the season ended. Now some of that is justified. You can’t argue that he should have caught that final pass versus the Detroit Lions, but you also have to cut the man some slack.
NFL fans see so many guys explode early that anyone who doesn’t come charging out of the gates is often unfairly labeled as a ‘bust’ or someone who ‘sucks’. People are addicted to instant gratification, but if everyone can agree quarterbacks need time to develop, why isn’t the same thing said about the other positions on the field?
