After a disappointing season in 2019, the Philadelphia Eagles should give DeSean Jackson one final shot to prove himself next year.

Last March, the Philadelphia Eagles made what seemed like an easy decision at the time to bring on DeSean Jackson for a second stint with the team to provide Carson Wentz with another deep threat to work with on offense.

Despite how things previously played out when the Eagles released the veteran speedster in 2014 following a Pro Bowl season, Jackson knew the circumstances were completely different back then since Chip Kelly eventually turned out to be a huge problem.

With Doug Pederson now calling the shots, Jackson was clearly excited to be back with the team he spent the first six years of his NFL career with, and even got off to an amazing start in Week 1 by catching eight passes for 154 yards to go along with two touchdowns.

But unfortunately, Jackson’s season would end up taking a turn for the worse after an abdomen injury that would eventually lead to surgery resulted in the wideout appearing in just three games for Philadelphia during his first season back.

As a result, there’s been plenty of discussion by the fan base over whether the Eagles should bring Jackson back for 2020 since he just turned 33 in December, and could continue to seem like a risk due to his history of injuries.

Take this into consideration with the fact that Alshon Jeffery’s status for the beginning of the regular season is up in the air as well due to a foot injury, it’s easy to see why Philadelphia will be focusing on improving at wide receiver this offseason, even if it means parting ways with Jackson.

Of course, as every football fan knows, a team like the Eagles moving on from a player like Jackson can sometimes be easier say than done with the money Philadelphia guaranteed him before last season.

Keeping Jackson around after the results of 2019 may not seem like the best idea in the world to some fans, but at this point, it seems like the best option for the Eagles.

Maybe if all goes well for Jackson over the next few months while he continues to recover, and the Eagles decide to give him one final shot to prove himself worthy in 2020, Philadelphia will get a taste of what they expected throughout last season.

If not, well then it will seem like an easy decision for the Eagles around this time next year in regards to what to do with Jackson.
