In a move that shouldn’t shock anyone, news broke recently that the Philadelphia Eagles are to release Nigel Bradham.

It’s not even March or the free agency period yet, and the Philadelphia Eagles are already in that frame of thinking. On February 18th (and shortly after lunchtime on the East Coast), news broke from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the ‘Birds’ plan to release linebacker Nigel Bradham. He’s already been informed of the decision.

There are truly no days off in the ultra-competitive NFL.

Why now? What does this mean for the team as far as the cap goes and their situation at linebacker? Who steps into that position?

The decision to waive one of the team’s starters on defense and perhaps one of the better pieces on a unit that, at times, showed a penchant for being wildly inconsistent can make fans either scratch their collective heads or high five one another, depending on what side you’ve been debating from, but Bradham’s release is one we’ve been expecting since Philly’s Wild Card game ended.

We just didn’t know that the hammer would drop so quickly. More roster movement is sure to come, but let’s take a moment and break down the first major move of the Eagles offseason.
