Philadelphia Eagles to release Nigel Bradham per report: 3 Reactions
1. Thinking back on what the GM said.
Shortly after the close of the 2019-2020 season, Eagles vice president and general manager Howie Roseman and the team’s head coach, Doug Pederson met with the Philly media, and out of everything that was discussed over the course of 35 minutes or so, one statement keeps playing in all of our minds over and over.
This team needs to get younger and faster.
Bradham, though extremely gifted when healthy (more on that in a moment) is approaching the threshold of 31 years of age. His birthday is in September, and In 2019, he missed weeks seven through eleven thanks to some injury concerns before returning in Week 12 and playing out the remainder of the season with virtually no issue.
In all, he racked up 61 total tackles and, of course, two of the biggest moments of the Eagles season, a late-game interception off of a tipped pass versus the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in an early-season contest (one that the Eagles absolutely had to win) and a fumble recovery on an attempted lateral in Week 15 versus the Washington Redskins. That one was the icing on the cake in a game that, well, the Eagles absolutely had to win.
His presence at the second level will be missed by Eagles fans, but as we all know, the NFL is a business and Philly’s looking to retool and reorganize some things on both sides of the ball.
