Grades for every cornerback Philadelphia Eagles have drafted since 2010
99th-overall selection (2017)
It’s hard not to like Rasul Douglas though it seems that Jim Schwartz has lost a little faith in him. To be frank so has some of the Eagles fan base, but to be honest, Douglas is an easy fix. He’s playing out of position. All the Eagles have to do is move him to play safety.
He can’t cover faster receivers consistently, but Douglas is a bit of a wildcard. When you’re ready to give up on him, he’ll make big plays in big moments. His stat line will make quite a few of the other guys around the league jealous.
Give it a look why don’t you? In 52 career appearances (including the postseason), Douglas has 18 starts at cornerback. He’s stuck his head in on 128 tackles. 95 of those have been of the solo variety, and nine have resulted in a loss of yardage.
He’s come up with five interceptions and 26 pass breakups. He’s everything that you could ask for in someone taken in the third round, and he’s always provided quality depth. As mentioned however his snaps decreased as Schwartz lost faith in him and as the season progressed.
Make no mistake though. Cory Undlin is gone. Marquand Manuel is the defensive backs coach now. We’ll see if that helps Douglas any. 2020 is going to be a big year for him. Grade: C
