Philadelphia Eagles: 3-Round 2020 NFL Mock Draft pre-combine edition
There will be no sweeter words to Eagles fans than, “With the 21st pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Eagles select Henry Ruggs III” come April 23, as the marriage of these two would be one made in heaven.
It’s no surprise the Birds desperately require speed on offense and Ruggs is by far one of the fastest players in the draft with multiple Alabama Crimson Tide teammates predicting he will run faster than a 4.3 40-yard dash.
In fact, Trevon Diggs, who played with Ruggs at Alabama, even predicted his teammate would run as low as 4.19 seconds, which would be good enough for the fastest time ever recorded at the NFL combine.
Ruggs doesn’t just bring speed to the table either. He is a natural catcher of the football and presents a threat to take it to the house on a variety of routes, not solely vertical ones. Ruggs also flashes a fair amount of physicality despite his 6’0″ and 190-pound build, keeping his hands active throughout his route and continuing to do so after the catch.
There exists a real probability that Ruggs will be drafted before the Eagles are on the clock in the first round, yet it’s not completely impossible that he drops right in their laps. If this were to somehow happen, Howie Roseman and Doug Pederson will not hesitate when pulling the trigger on the speedy wideout.
