3 potential free agent targets for Eagles from Redskins in 2020
By Dan Parzych
1. Case Keenum
Remember a few years ago when Case Keenum was considered a serious MVP candidate after nearly leading the Minnesota Vikings to a Super Bowl berth before coming up short in the NFC Championship to the Eagles?
One can only imagine how different things would have been moving forward if Keenum didn’t end up becoming the odd-man out in Minnesota before signing with the Denver Broncos in 2018 before eventually ending up in Washington through a trade.
But at least with Keenum set to become a free agent, the veteran quarterback can determine his next team, and find a much better fit, even if it happens to be as a backup.
Since the Eagles are clearly set at quarterback with Carson Wentz under center, there’s no chance of Keenum earning the starting job, but also from a learning standpoint, this could work out great for both parties.
Keenum may not seem like the most impressive mentor in the world for someone like Wentz, but he does have plenty of starting experience, and could help Philadelphia fill their need for a backup quarterback.
As much as the Eagles would love to see Josh McCown or Nate Sudfeld back, Keenum would arguably be the better option heading into 2020, but also similar to the situation with Norman, this potential signing only makes sense at the right price for Philadelphia.
