Let’s say the Eagles throw us all a curveball and go with a cornerback at 21. Who might they wind up with? Is it Trevon Diggs, Cameron Dantler, or Kristian Fulton?

Take a look around Twitter, Instagram, or Tik Tok, and you’re going to keep seeing this overwhelming sentiment. The theory is the Philadelphia Eagles are guaranteed to take a wide receiver when they’re on the clock at 21. While that’s an area of need, no one would debate the statement that the Eagles’ cornerback position is also in need of a makeover, so it’s hard to rule out the idea of Philly taking a cover guy. That’s where Trevon Diggs, Cameron Dantzler, and Kristian Fulton come in.

While no one would call Philly’s possible selection of a game-changing receiver a bad move, no one knows what they’re going to do when they’re on the clock either. The last time everyone was this certain about something, the narrative was Philly had to go with a cover corner in Round 1 during 2017’s NFL Draft. They selected Derek Barnett, a defensive end.

The Eagles brass has made a few references to taking the best player available during the Howie Roseman and Doug Pederson era, but we also know that team needs also play a major part in the thinking and the draft process, so yes.

Banking on hearing a corner or a wideout’s name at 21 is as good a bet as any. Here’s a comparison of three cover guys who may be available and who may be on Philly’s mind when they’re finally on the clock on April 23rd.
