One year after drafting former Penn State star Miles Sanders, could the Philadelphia Eagles benefit from adding another member of the Nittany Lions in KJ Hamler?

Little did the Philadelphia Eagles know at the time last April that Miles Sanders would turn out to be a steal in the second round of the NFL Draft, but the young running back has made it clear he deserves to be the No. 1 option moving forward.

At the time of the selection last April, the plan for the Eagles was to have Sanders provided the backfield with a solid one-two combo alongside Jordan Howard.

And while this scenario did work wonders on numerous occasions for Philadelphia, with Howard dealing with an injury for the most part during the final two months of action, it was Sanders who stepped up on offense for the Eagles when they needed it the most.

Time will tell when it comes to seeing whether Philadelphia decides to give it another go with Howard in 2019, but even if the Eagles decide to part ways with the running back after one season, at least Sanders and Boston Scott will keep the offense in great shape.

Not to mention, if Philadelphia were to look for help at running back in the upcoming draft, this year’s class will have plenty of strong candidates to choose from, even if the Eagles decided to wait until one of the later rounds.

Speaking of the draft, with the Eagles and every other team scouting players later this week during the NFL combine, Philadelphia will have plenty of other positions in need of exploring as well, one of which happens to be wide receiver.

After all of the injuries from this past season on top of what the future holds for certain players at the position such as Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery, no one would be surprised if the Eagles decided to use one of their selections in April on a new wide receiver.

While the Eagles will do plenty of evaluating from now until the middle of April, one receiver that will most likely continue to draw interest from the NFC East champions is Penn State‘s KJ Hamler.

During his final season with the Nittany Lions in 2019, Hamler made quite the impact on offense by catching 56 passes for 904 yards to go along with eight touchdowns.

In fact, with Hamler already indicating he hopes that Sanders would put in a good word to the Eagles about his skill set, and the running back already responding in almost the best way possible on Twitter, it’s tough for Philadelphia fans not to be excited over a potential reunion.

The addition of someone like Hamler isn’t going to solve all of the issues Philadelphia experienced throughout the 2019 season, but also there is a reason why the Penn State wideout has seen his name discussed in numerous mock drafts over the last couple of weeks.

Plenty of evaluating will be taking place over the next few months leading up to the draft, but if Sanders feels confident enough in his former college teammate being a great selection, the Eagles should probably listen to their star running back.
