Philadelphia Eagles best chance at Henry Ruggs III may be through trade

After Henry Ruggs III impressed scouts at the combine in Indianapolis, the Philadelphia Eagles may have to trade up for the speedy wideout during the 2020 NFL Draft if the interest is there.
For months, there has been plenty of speculation over the idea of the Philadelphia Eagles selecting Alabama’s Henry Ruggs III in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft since the offense is clearly in need of help at the wide receiver position.
Between Nelson Agholor set to become a free agent along with trying to decide the futures of both Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, the Eagles will be busy over the next few months when it comes to figuring out their wide receiver position for 2020.
But no matter what decisions are made over the next couple of weeks, chances are the team is still going to look to the draft for help at the wide receiver position anyway, whether it happens to be at No. 21 or later on.
As for what this could mean for Ruggs, well over the last couple of weeks, the Crimson Tide star has been viewed as a strong candidate for the Eagles at No. 21 in plenty of mock drafts, but this could quickly change thanks to the combine.
Most football fans already knew that Ruggs was considered one of the fastest prospects from this year’s draft class, but watching the wideout finish with a 4.27 time in the 40-yard dash at the combine Thursday has the receiver’s stock on the rise.
Just like that, the chances of Ruggs being available at No. 21 for Philadelphia if they do end up considering the wideout seems unlikely since he seems to have caught the attention even more of other teams in need of help at receiver as well before the Eagles will be on the clock.
Does this mean Philadelphia would ever consider the possibility of trading up for Ruggs in the first round just to be safe?
Sadly, if the Eagles really do want Ruggs, this may be their best and only option.
One impressive outing at the combine obviously doesn’t guarantee that Ruggs is going to have a successful NFL career, but he certainly has caught the attention of the other teams besides Philadelphia looking to upgrade at wide receiver early on in the draft.
Trading up for Ruggs in the first round may not seem like the top option for the Eagles at the moment, but if it puts the offense in great shape at receiver for years to come, this could be well worth it for the NFC East champions.
