3 Major statements concerning Philadelphia Eagles and Byron Jones
Three major statements have been made that you’ll be interested in if you’ve been following the Byron Jones and Philadelphia Eagles rumors.
Here’s what we know about the Philadelphia Eagles and their situation at cornerback. Buckle up because, while none of this qualifies as news, it’s a lot to take in and process.
Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills are both at the end of their current deals and are set to hit the free-agent market. Darby’s time in Philly is over, or at least that’s what one-hundred percent of the fan base wants. If the Eagles re-sign this guy, the Novacare Complex may be burned to the ground.
Mills is a little different. He’ll never be Rod Woodson, but he’s serviceable. He also has the respect and admiration of his coaches, fans, and teammates. Sure, he gets beaten by the double-move, but the team plays better on defense when he’s available and on the playing field. He just picks guys up who are around him.
If the season started right now and both of those guys left, Philly has Rasul Douglas, Craig James, Sidney Jones, Cre’Von LeBlanc, and Avonte Maddox at their disposal and on the active roster.
They’ve got Tremon Smith and Trevor Williams signed to future-reserve deals. The expectation is they’ll take at least one cornerback in the upcoming draft in one of the early rounds, and they may add as many as three (we know at least two is the plan). Philly will also be aggressive during the NFL’s free agency period, where Byron Jones is the best at his position.
Is everybody caught up? Excellent! Here are three updates on the Byron Jones and Eagles angle.
