Philadelphia Eagles: 3 reasons to avoid Nick Foles trade with Jaguars

2. Eagles need to avoid potential Wentz drama
First off, let the record show that if Philadelphia were to ever bring back Foles, Wentz would easily still be the starter under center when looking at all of the money invested in the former first-round pick last offseason.
As previously mentioned, one of the hottest topics of discussion last offseason was whether the Eagles should keep Foles as the starter and try to move on from Wentz since the former Super Bowl MVP had proven to be reliable in the playoffs.
But once again, from a long-term perspective, Wentz was always going to be the better option.
With that being said, the last thing Philadelphia needs to see is Wentz feeling any unnecessary pressure over potential talk in 2020 about how the offense would be better off with Foles if things fail to go according to plan.
The concerns over Wentz being able to stay healthy may have been there leading up to the 2019 season, but other than the cheap shot the Eagles quarterback took in the playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Wentz did prove he has what it takes.
Even if the argument can be made that it’s always better to be safe than sorry with a reliable backup like Foles, if Philadelphia truly wants to see Wentz help lead the team to another playoff appearance next season, avoiding any unnecessary quarterback drama will be key as well.
