3. It’s difficult to gauge how the draft will play out.

By now, many of us have all made up our minds that Peters is gone, and we’re thinking about what he did here. Let’s all pause for a few seconds though. Who’s to say ‘Big V’ doesn’t leave too? If they’re both gone, that leaves a tremendous hole for the ‘Birds’ at left tackle.

Keep in mind the fact that there are no guarantees that Philly will find another Jason Peters or another Halapoulivaati Vatai in this year’s draft class.

Sure, there are studs in the incoming class. There’s Penei Sewell, Alex Leatherwood, Sam Cosmi, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside‘s former teammate, Walker Little. You have to think that the Eagles wouldn’t have a shot at those guys though, so you look at Cade Mays, Jalen Mayfield, Trey Smith, and Liam Eichenberg.

Philly could find some value there, but are any of those guys as good as Peters, Vaitai, or Dillard? None of us can say that with any certainty.

The draft is a crapshoot. There aren’t any guarantees. There could be a run on tackles early, or guys could fall once things are underway. No one knows how this selection meeting or any other will play out, and that brings us to the aforementioned free agency pool.
