Here’s a story about a forgotten man, Corey Clement of the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly wouldn’t consider bringing him back, would they?

For Corey Clement, year number one in the NFL couldn’t have begun with more frustration or ended with more jubilation. After going undrafted in 2017’s draft, the Philadelphia Eagles signed the Glassboro, New Jersey native on May 11th of that same season, and the former Wisconsin Badgers standout worked his way onto the active roster.

Year one had a storybook ending as Clement stepped in for an injured Darren Sproles and became an integral part of the Eagles’ backfield rotation. He finished the regular season with 74 carries for 321 yards and four touchdowns. He showed his mettle as a receiver as well as he added another ten receptions for another 123 yards and two more trips to paydirt in the passing game.

A star was born when, in Super Bowl 52, Clement made an argument for himself to be named the game’s Most Valuable Player as he racked up 100 receiving yards on four receptions, One of which was his brilliant catch and toe tap in the back of the end zone as Nick Foles placed the ball out of the reach of three defenders. Clement also took the handoff on the ‘Philly Special’ and tossed the ball to Trey Burton who played the role of quarterback in the greatest trick play in Super Bowl history.

Unfortunately, that ‘s where this fairy tale turns into a house of horrors. Since then, Clement’s seen both the 2018 and 2019 seasons end with him being placed on the team’s injured reserve. He enters the 2020 offseason as a bit of a forgotten man and a restricted free agent, but has he done enough to be given one more shot? Here’s an argument for and against his return.
