Here’s an argument to bring him back.

You younger NFL fans may have never heard this. Once upon a time, there was a saying in football that went like this. “You can’t lose your spot because of injury”. Now, we know that isn’t true, but had Darren Sproles never gotten hurt in 2017, we may have never gotten to know Mr. Clement.

Had Clement never gotten hurt, who knows? Maybe the Eagles don’t draft Miles Sanders in the second round of 2019’s NFL Draft, and maybe Boston Scott isn’t even on the team. None of that matters now though.

A season ago, despite a slight decline, Jason Peters had a better year than LeSean McCoy, yet some Eagles fans were ready to run Peters out of town and are now on board with the idea of welcoming McCoy back for a final run.

Clement enters the 2020 offseason as a restricted free agent, and even though there’s no guarantee that he even makes it back onto the roster and to training camp, there are also no guarantees that he’s finished. If he can go, this may be a darkhorse candidate for one of Philly’s breakout players in 2020. He has that type of potential.

Some fans don’t like him, but you never know what’s going on in the minds of some of these Eagles or their fans.

A season ago, despite a slight decline, Jason Peters had a better year than LeSean McCoy, yet some Eagles fans were ready to run Peters out of town and are now on board with the idea of welcoming McCoy back for a final run. This is the same McCoy that Andy Reid didn’t trust enough to activate for the most recent Super Bowl.

Here’s something to mull over. Some will read this and ask themselves whether or not they believe that Clement isn’t completely healthy and whether or not he can truly return to the form we saw in 2017. They’ll also ask why he’s needed if there’s a draft in April. All of those are fair questions. Here are a few more.

DeSean Jackson needs to embrace a situational role in 2020. light. Trending

What if Clement is healthy? What if he is that same guy? Can we definitively say the guys in the latter part of the draft are better? The most important question is this. Has Corey Clement earned one more shot? Keep an eye on him. His time in Philly may not be over.
