1. Philip Rivers

Before anyone freaks out over the idea of Philip Rivers replacing Carson Wentz under center for Philadelphia, keep in mind this move would only be considered as a backup option for the NFC East champions.

With Nate Sudfeld set to hit free agency, the Eagles find themselves in need of help at backup quarterback, and while Wentz managed to prove plenty of doubters wrong last year who didn’t believe he could remain healthy, it’s always important to have the proper insurance.

Experience wise, Rivers has some of the best available as far as available quarterbacks in free agency are concerned when taking into consideration the veteran started every game for the Chargers dating back to the 2006 season.

While there’s a good chance Rivers will strongly consider teams he has a chance of starting for, the veteran also needs to decide just how badly he wants a Super Bowl at this stage in his career.

By mentoring Wentz, and providing Philadelphia with a reliable backup quarterback, this could be the perfect scenario for both parties once free agency gets underway.

Once again, Rivers going from starter to backup may not be his preference, but if it puts him in better position to finally earn a Super Bowl ring if the Eagles continue to be top contenders in the NFC, why wouldn’t he at least consider this possibility?
