Here are power rankings for the cornerbacks entering free agency. These are names to write down if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

As Philadelphia Eagles fans or as fans of any of the other 31 NFL teams, we look at a 9-7 win-loss total as a sign of mediocrity, and we should. A 9-7 record isn’t something to sound the trumpets over. Sure, your team has a winning record, but they haven’t proved that they’re capable of being dominant.

Never has a team walked into the NFL Playoffs as a number-one seed if they’re a game over .500, and they never will. Still, if history is any indication, it could be a nice enough mark to get yourselves into the discussion as a division winner and the host of an AFC or an NFC Wild Card Game. Look no further than your ‘Birds’ for evidence of that.

Philly finished with identical 9-7 records after both the 2018 and 2019 regular seasons. In 2018, they earned a road playoff game. In 2019, that mark was good enough to earn them a division crown. Though we hate seeing that as fans, the NFL loves it.

They pride themselves on parity, and if we all woke up on Week 17 of every NFL season and the majority of the teams were around the 7-8 or 8-7 range, the league offices would be happy. They pride themselves on the theory that every team has a chance, and with free agency and the draft a team can go from the outhouse to the penthouse in 365 days.

The Eagles are the reigning NFC East Champions, but for them to accomplish that same feat in 2020, they have to improve in several areas, including in the secondary. Let’s do some scouting. Here are power rankings for the cornerbacks set to enter free agency. Might one of these guys be a future Eagle?
