Philadelphia Eagles scouting reports: Free-agent CB power rankings
No longer one of the elite corners in the mighty NFL, Xavier Rhodes didn’t just decline. He fell off of a cliff, but he’ll get a lot of offers based on the reputation that he earned before the 2019 season.
Kendall Fuller battled the injury bug last season, and he’d be ranked a lot higher in people’s minds had that not been the case. Are you noticing that seems to be the issue with a lot of these guys? The good news about Mr. Fuller is this. He’s only 25, so you figure there has to be a lot of life left in those young legs.
Jimmy Smith is a guy that teams should be considering if they’re looking for depth. He’s not a starter anymore, and he hasn’t played a full season since 2015. He’ll also be 32 before the season begins, so he isn’t getting any younger.
Brian Poole was the best cover guy on a bad team last season. Check out a little tape on him, and you’ll see why he’s on a few radars. He’s young (27), but he’s probably better suited to play in the slot than on the outside.
Mackensie Alexander edges out the likes of Prince Amukamara, Trae Waynes, and Ronald Darby as those guys who are probably the second tier of free agents at the cornerback position. The Minnesota Vikings had their struggles in the secondary, but that isn’t Alexander’s fault. To be honest, you can argue that he had a better season than Rhodes did, even though some may rank Rhodes higher.
