3 CBA changes that directly affect Philadelphia Eagles
With a new Collective Bargaining Agreement in place, we look at three aspects that Philadelphia Eagles fans might find interesting.
There are a few subtle differences that distinguish the decision-makers in the NFL from those in other sports. Major League Baseball is obsessed with its history. The NBA is more player-centric, which is why fans commit to being fans of players more than they commit to being fans of teams. The NFL is all about ‘The Shield’. Philadelphia Eagles fans know that. So do the fans of the other 31 franchises.
One thing that’s certain about professional football is this. Change is certain and constant, and for a couple of weeks now, we’ve been discussing the possibility of rule changes. If we haven’t learned anything else about the NFL, it’s this. It’s the most progressive league in our great country.
If something doesn’t make sense, the rule changes. If something can improve the league, there’s no hesitation in implementing it. According to multiple reports, most notably those by JC Tretter, the NFLPA’s president, and NFL.com, a new CBA has been ironed out that will extend through 2030 following a 1,019 to 959 majority vote that occurred late on Saturday evening.
Among a few of the most interesting changes is more money for the players, including revenue increases in the coming years and changes to the drug-testing policy, but if you can’t get your hands on the full 400-plus page report, know this. You’ll be hearing a lot about it in the coming weeks.
There are a few changes that affect Philly immediately. Here are three that jump out at you if you’re a member of the media or a fan.
