The Philadelphia Eagles should actually be excited about the decision by the Dallas Cowboys to use the franchise tag on Dak Prescott.

As the Philadelphia Eagles continue to prepare for the upcoming free agency period for the 2020 season, the NFC East champions did receive some other news regarding their rivals in Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.

On Monday, the Cowboys made the decision to use the exclusive franchise tag on Prescott for now instead of rewarding the quarterback with a long-term deal, meaning the former Mississippi State star will be receiving quite a pay raise for his fifth NFL season.

All things considered, there’s no question that Prescott was due for a pay raise when looking at the kind of impact he’s made over the last four seasons under center for Dallas.

And while Prescott certainly has plenty of reasons to be thrilled over the fact that he’s going to be making around $33 million for the 2020 season, the Eagles should arguably be thrilled as well.

Thanks to Prescott emerging out of nowhere back in 2016 to take over the starting job in Dallas, Philadelphia knows the Cowboys quarterback will most likely be around for the long run, and should make this rivalry even more interesting for years to come.

However, just because Prescott officially received the exclusive franchise tag for 2020 doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be all smooth sailing for the Cowboys moving forward since there are still numerous factors that benefit the Eagles after this decision.

While most Cowboys fans are rightfully celebrating the news surrounding Prescott receiving the tag, here are a few reasons why the Eagles and their fans should be just as excited over Monday’s announcement.
