Philadelphia Eagles scouting: Top 10 NFL Draft prospects at safety
In 2019, Ashtyn Davis proved he was one of the gold standards at the safety position in the Pac-12, but for whatever reason, he hasn’t catapulted himself into a lot of first-round discussions. That would lead you to believe that this is a very realistic option for the Eagles in Round 2, and the highlights will make you feel really good about him if you use that as part of your analysis.
Davis is a six-foot-one, 202-pound prospect that NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein states “will be a starter within his first two seasons” in his draft profile. He also compares the man who racked up 55 tackles and two picks in his final season at DeSean Jackson‘s alma mater to Tyvon Branch.
There shouldn’t be any complaints if Philly lands him with the 53rd-overall selection.
Though the majority of draft experts and pro scouts probably figure to give Davis the higher marks, Antoine Winfield scores a tad higher on this list for being the better playmaker and for posting better numbers against the more stout competition in a better conference.
Winfield did everything for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in 2019, racking up 85 tackles. seven interceptions and three sacks. Davis makes a ton of sense for the Eagles at 53, but if Winfield is also available, the ‘Birds’ have a tough decision to make.
