1. Why did this team sign a defensive tackle?

Even if you’re the most casual Eagles fan, if somebody was to ask you about this team’s biggest needs, you’d probably talk about four or five position groups before you even arrived at defensive tackle.

There are holes at wide receiver and cornerback. After Nigel Bradham‘s gone, there won’t be anyone on the current roster that anybody feels comfortable seeing at the inside linebacker position. The Eagles have running backs. The problem is they all look alike.

Sure, they’re all tough. They don’t mind hammering the ball up the middle, but with their size, that’s not something that you want to see 20 times a game from any of them. It just feels like this team needs a bell cow. Then, there are questions about depth at safety and the defensive end position.

Philly extended Ridgeway hours before news broke that they’d also sign Hargrave. Fletcher Cox is here. So is Bruce Hector and Anthony Rush. Timmy Jernigan is on the team at the time of this story being published, but he’s probably leaving. Albert Huggins is signed to a future reserve contract.

Then, there’s Malik Jackson. Philly’s got a lot of guys at defensive tackle, and a few of them are making a lot of money. The question is should we be satisfied with the depth or hope that somebody moves (maybe Jackson) to create room to get guys at other positions?
