Assessing the Philadelphia Eagles situation at wide receiver always seems to be a hot topic for ‘Birds’ fans.

With free agency and the new league year officially underway, the Philadelphia Eagles have plenty of work to do on both sides of the ball. The wide receiver position will be a priority, and with the front office’s focus on bringing in younger players at a reasonable price, there a few ideal moves the Eagles can make to ensure they walk into 2020’s regular season with the best chance for success.

This has been a topic of discussion and a major issue for a while. Everyone knows that changes are imminent. Alshon Jeffery hasn’t been the same player he was in 2017 and hasn’t able to stay healthy. Nelson Agholor was had moments where he’s been productive, but he seems to have regressed. DeSean Jackson is one of the best deep threats in the league, but he’s also older and injury-prone.

All of this has fans and members of the media of the mindset that they hope Howie Roseman makes a big splash, but that doesn’t seem likely.

On Monday, former Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was shipped off to the Arizona Cardinals. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Eagles were in talks with the Texans, but they didn’t want to take on his current contract or extend him to a larger deal in the future.

Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs is also off the board as he was traded to the Buffalo Bills for four draft picks including a first-round selection in 2020. Robby Anderson is still available and 26 years old, but Howie might decide to avoid him if his price tag rises.

Emmanuel Sanders is also still on the market and coming off an impressive campaign with the San Francisco 49ers, but he turned 33 on March 17th. There are more affordable options. Here’s a nice battle plan for 2020 and the fallout that comes in each step of the plan.
