Philadelphia Eagles: 7-Round 2020 mock draft following Darius Slay trade
By Dan Parzych
As previously mentioned, due to the recent trade by the Eagles to acquire Slay from the Lions, Philadelphia could easily decide to pass on a cornerback at No. 21 and wait until one of the other rounds.
But if Cameron Dantzler happens to be available when the Eagles are on the clock in the second round, this would almost seem too good to be true.
Just because a three-time Pro Bowler in Slay is on board doesn’t necessarily mean all of Philadelphia’s issues at cornerback are resolved since the defense could use extra depth if anything.
Dantzler has received all sorts of high praise for his zone-coverage skills over the years, and his time spent at Mississippi State makes it seem like he will develop into a successful cornerback at the NFL level.
Between having the opportunity to learn from a top cornerback in Slay along with being able to push some of the young players in Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox, Dantzler would be a great selection to help the Eagles kick off Day 2 of the draft.
There’s always the chance of Dantzler being off the board before No. 53 since plenty of teams need help at the cornerback position, but hopefully this isn’t the case so Philadelphia can take advantage of the situation.
