Linebacker was already considered to be a major need for the Eagles entering the offseason, and the release of Nigel Bradham in February put Philadelphia’s defense in an even more difficult position, although there really isn’t any reason to panic.

Most likely, the Eagles will look to fill the need in the upcoming draft since there will be plenty of great prospects worth considering, and the third round seems like the perfect time to begin addressing the position, depending on who is available.

Based off Casey Toohill‘s time at Stanford, the linebacker proved to be the kind of player who gets better with experience, and finished his career on a high note by recording eight sacks to go along with 11.5 tackles for loss.

Toohill has the kind of frame NFL coaches love, and from a developmental perspective, this seems like a perfect candidate to work with Jim Schwartz over the next couple of years to put the defense in better shape at the position.

Like every other prospect, Toohill has a few areas that will need to improve once he arrives to the NFL such as dropping back in coverage, but hopefully with the right coaching, some of these will improve in good time.
