Whether you realize it or not, seeing Nelson Agholor sign with Las Vegas should make you realize that you’re fortunate to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Well, the nightmare is over, for Philadelphia Eagles fans anyway. We spend hours arguing about things when, honestly, none of us have a clue about what will happen. Sure, we all think we’re better play-callers than Doug Pederson and better general managers than Howie Roseman, but face it. They’ve forgotten more about how to do their jobs than most of us will ever learn. Just take Nelson Agholor for instance.

None of us were totally certain about what would happen with the Eagles once roster changes were announced and once teams signed new guys in free agency, but we could all hang our hats on something. We knew Nelson Agholor was out of here.

We can debate whether or not it was right or wrong to let Malcolm Jenkins walk (it was the wrong decision, but it’s still a nice conversation piece). We can call Roseman names for every decision that he makes, but believe it or not you Howie haters, Eagles fans are lucky to have him. Eagles fans are lucky to have grown up cheering for this team.

Why? It’s simple. Life could be a whole lot worse. You could have grown up a Las Vegas Raiders fan. Sure, they have a rich history, but it’s also ancient. As an Eagles fan, your team’s owner is Jeffrey Lurie. Las Vegas has Mark Davis, and they have a general manager who’s a former television analyst, Mike Mayock, who doesn’t know Jason Witten is a broken-down old man now and Nelson Agholor can’t play. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Agholor is signing a one-year deal with Las Vegas, and he’ll try to “commit to excellence”.

Do you still feel like being an Eagles fan sucks?

You could have been a fan of one of those teams that never won a Super Bowl and continue to break the hearts of their fans. For Philly, the third time was the charm. For Buffalo Bills fans, there were four straight appearances. All were losses, and each loss was worse than the one that preceded it.

Look at those Los Angeles Chargers. They don’t have a Super Bowl victory to speak of. The Detroit Lions have won one playoff game in the past fifty years. The Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns both deserve Super Bowl wins, but they’re both cursed for some reason. Every year, it seems like they get further from the goal.

Sure, growing up an Eagles fan means you had to see them waste an all-world talent like Randall Cunningham. It means a fog will descend on Soldier Field for a playoff game. It means you had to watch Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens argue.

It means you had to watch Philly get to five NFC Championship Games under Andy Reid and watch them lose four of them (and the one they won led to a Super Bowl loss). Being an Eagles fan means heartache and torture and ideas that will make you want to rip your insides out, but ask the Cleveland Browns whether or not they’d switch their history for Philly’s.

Ask one of them whether or not they’d take Donovan McNabb if they could go back in time or if they want Carson Wentz now. You might be surprised by what you find out. Being an Eagles fan hasn’t been that bad. They’re frustrating but look at the bright side. Nelson Agholor is gone. Mark Davis isn’t the boss, and Mike Mayock isn’t your general manager.
