Luckily for the Philadelphia Eagles, Kyle Allen joining the Washington Redskins change nothing in the NFC East.

For the most part, Monday was pretty quiet for the Philadelphia Eagles after the NFC East champions were busy last week with numerous key moves, highlighted by the trade that brought cornerback Darius Slay over from the Detroit Lions.

However, the Eagles did see a move take place from one of their rivals in the Washington Redskins involving Kyle Allen reuniting with Ron Rivera after the team agreed to acquire the quarterback from the Carolina Panthers.

At one point last season, Allen appeared to have a bright future with the Panthers while filling in for Cam Newton after winning four of his first five games under center, but unfortunately things would quickly go downhill for Carolina.

The fact that Carolina lost their final eight games of 2019 shows how quickly things took a turn for the worse with Allen.

And while there seemed to be some hope the Panthers would consider Allen to be the starter in 2020 since Newton appears to be on his way out, the recent signing of Teddy Bridgewater made it clear this wouldn’t be the case.

Now that Allen is officially heading to Washington, all eyes will be on him to see if he has what it takes to give Dwayne Haskins a run for the starting job.

After using a first-round pick on the former Ohio State star last season, one would assume the Redskins are sold in doing whatever it takes to make sure Haskins turns out to be the franchise quarterback this offense has been looking for.

But also, Haskins is still inexperienced enough in which there is no long-term commitment for Washington at the moment, meaning Allen arguably has just as much of a chance to be the opening day starter come September.

Then again, if the final two months of last season are any indication, the Eagles really don’t have much of a reason to be concerned over this move by the Redskins since it seems highly unlikely that Allen beats out Haskins during training camp and preseason.

So while Rivera and Washington may be feeling plenty of excitement at the moment over acquiring Allen, Philadelphia shouldn’t be losing any sleep at all over this offseason move.
