Philadelphia Eagles: One dream trade target from each team for 2020
By Dan Parzych
Pittsburgh Steelers: Bud Dupree
Using the franchise tag on Bud Dupree was an easy decision for the Pittsburgh Steelers after 2019 turned out to be the best season of the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker’s career.
Not only did Dupree manage to start all 16 games for the Steelers, but he turned out to be one of the best players on the defensive side of the football by recording 11.5 sacks.
When taking into consideration that Dupree’s previous career high of six sacks took place in 2017, this shows why Pittsburgh wanted to make sure he stuck around for next season.
Most likely, the Steelers would prefer to keep their star linebacker around for the long run, but if money were to cause complications at some point, maybe Dupree could eventually end up elsewhere.
With Philadelphia always in need of help at the linebacker position, an effective playmaker like Dupree would easily help the defense solve some of their issues from the 2019 season.
Dupree matching his sack total or better from last season would be challenging for obvious reasons, but the motivation for a hefty new deal always helps, and last season showed he appears to be capable of continuing to put up big numbers on defense.
