K.J. Hamler and 5 wide receiver targets for Eagles in second round of draft
By Dan Parzych
Chase Claypool should be thankful he decided to give it another year at Notre Dame since the wide receiver’s stock took a major jump during his senior season with the Fighting Irish in 2019.
After combining for 79 catches in two seasons from 2017-18 for 1,041 yards, and six touchdowns, Claypool crushed all of his previous career highs as a senior across the board by catching 66 catches for 1,037 yards to go along with 13 trips into the end zone.
Now, all eyes will be on Claypool to see how his transition to the NFL goes since he has the kind of size and strength that has the potential to cause all sorts of problems for opposing defenses.
Even if there are some concerns over Claypool needing some extra time to adjust to the NFL while proving what took place last season wasn’t just a one-time thing, a move like this could still benefit the Eagles.
Since certain veterans like Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson are getting up their in age, Philadelphia will need to plan for their future at wide receiver sooner rather than later, which is why the upcoming draft will be so important.
There’s always the chance of Claypool sneaking into the first round, but if not, the Eagles need to consider the Notre Dame star.
