Here’s one that just got away.

Like, Cooks, Sammy Watkins has created so many questions about himself and what he has left that there’s probably a good bit of us who, if we’re being honest, aren’t completely prepared to make an argument for what he is or what he has left to offer at this point of his career.

On the surface, it appears that he may have even been a better option than Cooks is, but Philly missed that boat, something that seems to be an ever-growing theme in the “City of Brotherly Love” from a football standpoint. Watkins could have been a less expensive option as well. Keep in mind the fact that he made less than Cooks, and K.C. just extended him on a one-year deal on April 3rd, one where Watkins took a pay cut. Cooks, on the other hand, represents a $16.8 million cap hit in 2020 alone.

He doesn’t seem to be a part of what the Kansas City Chiefs want to do long term, so if the defending champs are still entertaining trades and the extension was one that was more about being proactive, he’s someone Philly could at least inquire about.

Hey, they moved on from Sam Bradford eight days before the season began, didn’t they?
