4 Philadelphia Eagles are given a nod of historic proportions
During his time in the “City of Brotherly Love”, LeSean McCoy sliced up defenses for 9,792 rushing yards (a team record) 2,282 receiving yards, and 54 trips to the end zone. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, “Shady” is on the list.
"McCoy was a dual-threat back for several teams during the decade. He ran the ball 2,292 times for 10,434 yards (the most in the decade) and 69 touchdowns and led the league in rushing in 2013 with 1607 yards. He also had 463 receptions for 3,489 yards 16 touchdowns."
The guy that helped replace him made the list as well.
Darren Sproles gets two spots on this roster for being, quite possibly, the best “flex” runner on the roster and for his work on special teams. Here’s the skinny, first here’s what the have to say about the Swiss Army knife of running backs.
"Sproles was a “do-anything” back. is the only player in NFL history to record 30 receiving touchdowns (30), 20 rushing touchdowns (22), one kickoff return touchdown (2) and one punt return touchdown (7)."
Oh, and as Eagles fans might already know, Sproles is one of the best punt returners the game has ever seen. The members of The Hall agree
"Sproles is the only player to earn All-Decade honors at two positions as he also eared a spot in the Flex position. Twice during the decade (2014 and 2015) he led the NFL in punt return yardage and touchdown returns (2)."
It really would have been nice to see DeSean Jackson, McCoy and Sproles on the field for an Eagles offense at the same time. Can you imagine how explosive that would have been? Well, that’s what just under three years of Chip Kelly will get you.
