Based on how things have turned out, we can all say this now. There wasn’t a ton of public support when the Eagles hired Doug Pederson on January 18th of 2016, but once his story as Philly’s head coach reaches its conclusion, we may be talking about one of the best the franchise has ever seen.
After ending 2016 with a 7-9 win-loss total, Pederson’s guided the “Birds” to playoff appearances in every season that has followed, and if you listen to the media and some of the experts, there are a few theories floating around that he’ll guide Philadelphia to a second-consecutive division title in 2020.
That will also give him three of the last four division crowns. Two of which were won with his team being ravaged by injuries.
Andy Reid may have more team wins, but there’s only one man on the planet that can say he delivered the first Vince Lombardi Trophy to the “City of Brotherly Love”, and that’s Doug Pederson. He gets Thomas Jefferson’s position on this Mount Rushmore.
