4 Reasons Joe Flacco is a better backup for Eagles than Cam Newton
If we’re seriously tossing around the idea of veteran backups for the Philadelphia Eagles at quarterback, Joe Flacco is a much better option than Cam Newton is.
Two once-promising careers are in shambles. Two former starters may be welcomed to the life of being a backup quarterback in the NFL. The media writes you off. Fans spend a considerable portion of their day on Twitter saying that this player or that one “sucks”. Teams who need signal-callers, like the Philadelphia Eagles, are linked to just about everyone available, and then, there’s this.
Former starters like Cam Newton and Joe Flacco act as though they’re the last ones to find out they no longer have a market to be someone’s franchise quarterback.

To be honest, it may not be wise for Philly to sign either of these guys, but they are options and they’ve both been mentioned as potential candidates for the Eagles backup quarterback position.
If we’re picking one, we should all be screaming for Joe Flacco. This isn’t even an option. Here are four reasons why that’s the case. He just can’t wear the number five if he comes home.
