Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Bold predictions for 2020’s NFL Draft
3. The “Birds” take two wide receivers in Round 2 and Round 3.
It isn’t the way we thought that it would happen, but now, with two second-round selections, the Eagles can make a dent in those “pressing team needs”, possibly landing themselves a safety and if they haven’t taken a wide receiver in Round 1, they take one in Round 2.
We all believe that Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, Henry Ruggs III, Justin Jefferson, and Tee Higgins will be long gone by the time Round 2 starts. That means we’re discussing the likes of Chase Claypool, Jalen Reagor, Denzel Mims, Brandon Aiyuk, and K.J. Hamler as some of the prospects we can expect to go in the second stanza.
Lynn Bowden, Tyler Johnson, Collin Johnson, and Van Jefferson are mid-round guys who no one considers to be slouches. You’ve been told that Philly won’t have to stress if they don’t land a stud in the first wound to place in the offense with Carson Wentz. There’s the evidence. Then, there’s also this.
Though some of you aren’t, the Eagles are expecting a huge jump in Year 2 from JJ Arcega-Whiteside. That may influence their draft strategy slightly. They don’t seem to believe that their situation at wide receiver is as dire as some of you do. They have the right wide receivers coach now with Aaron Moorehead. Greg Ward has taken some huge strides and should be given another chance in 2020. DeSean Jackson will be back as well.
There’s no reason to believe that Philadelphia won’t address their needs at wide receiver, but we’re probably looking at them doing so in Round 2 and Round 3.
